Hey All!

So, I have some news. Some life changing news, actually. It may seem a tad out of the blue, and it is to be honest. The opportunity was somewhat unexpected. Ready?

This will be my last week at Game Informer. I am moving to San Francisco mid-May and will be taking up the role of Community Manager at Crystal Dynamics in Redwood City.  No joke. While I’ll be representing the company as a whole, my primary focus will be on the upcoming Tomb Raider title. If you know me in even the most superficial capacity, it is obvious what a dream come true this is.

As community manager I’ll be involved in many facets of social media and act as a liaison between the studio and various communities throughout the world. I’ll be a public face at the studio and will be attending events worldwide, giving demos, helping to execute short and long-term media strategies, and more. I’m stoked for the challenge and very excited to join the Crystal Dynamics team.

My time at Game Informer has been nothing but fantastic, and I am extremely appreciative of the many memorable opportunities GI has afforded me.  Not to mention that the staff is great and I’ll miss all the ridiculous daily antics of the office. I really can’t say enough positive things about Game Informer. I’ve been a fan of the magazine for over a decade and I’ll still look forward to receiving my issue every month on the west coast.

The move is going to be tough, without a doubt. I’ll miss my family, friends, and local costumers immensely. Crystal has been fantastic in making the transition as easy as possible, however. I cut my vacation in Florida short this past week to pop into San Fran for meetings and apartment hunting. I’ve found a fantastic place (phew!) in a great neighborhood near Google’s HQ, so the entire city has free Wi-Fi. How cool is that?! And I’ll only be 10 minutes from Pinkberry!

I realize this is happening very quickly and that my days in Minnesota are numbered. If you are a local friend, I’m planning some sort of get-together in order to say goodbye properly. Chances are it will be at an arcade or the like. More details soon! If you are a fellow industry professional, I’ll still be at all the major events worldwide, so we can keep in touch. I’ll just be on the other side of the fence now! As for my costuming friends, I’ll have to cut down the costume roster a bit to accommodate for my full schedule, but I still plan on rocking Anya and perhaps one or two more ensembles by the end of the year.

I know this is a ton digest, but there was no hesitation in my decision. I genuinely can’t imagine another studio or intellectual property in which I would rather be affiliated. Lara Croft helped to shape me into the individual I am today. I’m ready to return the favor.
