If you have a moment, please check out this exciting project I was asked to be a part of!
Like many others, cosplayers have been finding creative ways to provide aid after an earthquake and tsunami devastated parts of northern Japan in early March. Lead by Riki Lecotey of HimeArts, a group of international cosplayers have stepped forward to collaborate on something very unique – an original 2012 cosplay calendar that will benefit the Japanese Red Cross Society.
The list of participating costumers is impressive. I’m quite honored to be featured alongside individuals like Alodia Gosiengfiao, Linda Le, Yaya Han, and a slew of other very talented cosplayers. Visit the website if you are interested in reading bios from all the ladies involved.
Over 15 cosplayers are participating in the effort, each debuting a new costume or providing never-before-seen photos of an ensemble they’ve worn in the past. All the characters represented have roots in Japanese video games, anime, or manga. I personally reworked my female Mario costume for the occasion.
Lastly, several notable artists have jumped on board to help out – including Mark Brooks – who will provide some sketch work for the calendar.
The 2012 Cosplay for a Cause calendar costs $17.99 and will ship in the 3rd or 4th quarter of this year.
Please spread the word and preorder if you can!
