Following up on a feature detailing Lara’s past, we reveal the new Lara Croft in a big way.
In this article, Global Brand Director Karl Stewart and Art Director Brian Horton discuss the reason for the redesign, the iconography of Lara Croft, and how they hope the new look will help once again make her a culturally relevant hero.
For this feature, I decided it was best to let the creative sorts speak for themselves. As such, I arranged interesting quotes in a somewhat linear fashion and left it at that. I had fun formatting this one, too, adding pull quotes and playing with the official staff photos. Figuring out the format for the official art was tough, but I’m happy with the results. Thank you Meagan for your amazing work !
Lara Croft has actually been my inspiration for years. I first played Tomb Raider when I was 9 or 10-years-old. She’s got me into gaming and inspired my passion for archaeology and anthropology. I’m so glad that her new look will be real! No triple D breasts, no ridiculous outfits. She’s human in this new game and your work really helps to capture and emphasize that. I love how the Magazine art for her was laid out. You do fantastic work!
